These last few weeks have been nothing but full of research and gaining of information to increase my knowledge. It is hard to say what information was the most beneficial to me over the course of the last 16 weeks because ALL of it has definitely increased my knowledge and understanding. However, my most enjoyable and informative experiences came from the interviews that I conducted in relation to my topic. Interviewing two individuals who have years of experience and have seen and dealt with more than I have really had an effect on me as to where I see myself as a professional in the near years.
In this course, my focus was on the lack of school readiness that children have due to a lack of literacy skills. It's funny that before I became employed in my current position, I never knew what school readiness was or had not never heard of it. However, when it was being taught to me through trainings, etc. I instantly fell in love with the concept of it and have wanted to be a positive factor in helping children enhance their school readiness and literacy skills.
From what all I have learned and been expose to this entire course, our required text and the articles that I did for each annotated bibliography has had the greatest impact on me. Reason being is because through researching my topic I learned to look at the effects of trauma on my position and how resilience can stem from this. Things I have never thought about, I learned about through research. In continuing my work as an early childhood professional, I will keep in mind the various factors that affect children's development and how I can instill educational resilience in those situations to help them be successful.
